The Walk Free Foundation is an international organisation which objective is to end modern slavery. This is the second of their valuable Global Slavery Index that analyses the state of modern slavery in the world.
The 2014 Global Slavery Index estimates there are 35.8 million people living in some form of modern slavery globally.
According to the findings of this report, the countries with the highest number of people in modern slavery are: India, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Thailand.
The index highlights the governments that are the most active to end modern slavery as well as the governments that should be doing more, given their wealth (Hong Kong, Kuwait, Brunei, Singapore, Qatar).
